FLAT BED TRUCK FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN TRANSPORTATION

On August 10th, 2026, Refugio School reopened after being rioted and vandalized in December 2024.  For almost 20 months, 65 children were unable to have schooling and many of them faced food insecurity during that time.   Thanks to donors in various countries, these kids are now back in school Monday thru Friday, receiving two meals a day, playing and learning. 

These children gather every morning under a tree at the village to walk downhill 2.6 km (1.8 miles) to the school, it takes them about an hour to walk it.  Kids are aged 2,3,4,5 and 6 years old.  After lunch, they again gather with their teachers to walk another 2.6 km (1.8 miles) uphill back to the village under a scorching noon sun.  These kids spend two hours a day walking 5.2 km (3.6 miles) and that is not fair and I know we can help them.

The goal of this project is to raise 23,910 USD to purchase a flatbed truck to transport the kids in just 10 minutes each way.  On weekends, the truck can also be used to transport food and supplies from Nampula to Quinga.

We started raising funds for this project on August 5th, 2026 and so far, USD 10,100 have been raised.    Please consider making a donation towards the remaining USD 13,810.
